why would anyone with a little common sense jump in a not know how far down to the bottom knowing they can swim. someone who could swim should have tried it first and verified. Self-Preservation is lacking in many. But glad you were smart and didn't jump in

I’m sure you all learned this really scary lesson, but never let someone who can’t swim even be around water without a safety device, let alone get IN the water. Drowning happens all too quickly and your instructs were right, someone drowning will only put your life in danger, as well.
