It’s been an absolute pleasure using Suno. I’ve had music in the closet for years and using Suno helped me bring my music to life. Regardless of the intent it carries my passion and frequency to the world. Our world is changing and we have to remain open to change. It’s so fun ❤️❤️❤️

nahh, they want to legitimise their platform by using real artists like you who have a good reputation that you have built up over years with real hard work

Perhaps you will address this in part2, but I’m wondering how does suno profit from this grant? To the ear, it sounds nice. It sounds like the artist has an enormous amount of autonomy. Are you skeptical at all that there may be some hidden or unspoken agenda that may not align overall with your character or who you are as an artist and business person?

Your voice is the exact type of unique voice that Suno won’t be able to replicate unless you feed it into thier system. Personally for YOU I think it could benefit production if you are struggling with production but your voice and range is your usp, don’t give that up for any armount of money

Please reconsider it, Shae. When it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Where its giving you a “free” or “grant” product, just know you’re the product being sold. AI is fun & quirky until it starts using your likeness without your consent and takes all the ownership & royalties. They’re trying to twang you

Look o respect your take on this, but I also have to disagree with a few things. One being while they may say they the people who work at Suno are somewhat “true” musicians and techies, the Suno CEO Mikey Shulman came out and made wild statements like “ musicians don’t enjoy the process of making music, having to learn an instrument, music theory and learning how use DAW’s takes time”. He’ statement insinuated that musicians hate the process of making music because it’s “cumbersome”! I do not trust a man who has opinion like that about art. He doesn’t respect the process of artistry and making the art authentically, that’s why he wants to “gamify” music as he put himself. The people that work for Suno are not really musicians they are ex executives from record labels, basically suites who see music from a profit lens. They are there to ensure that Suno makes money and looks credible. So they will sell you any lie to make you believe they genuine. Also the only reason they giving artists grants is because they were getting sued and lost a case against GEMA for stealing and IP infringement. So this is an Image clean and PR stunt. You also didn’t mention that this deal also says if you agree with the terms you can never ever criticize Suno or they are liable to sue you. This deal comes with a gag order to protect Suno. Lastly they will absolutely train your music data, they are so sneaky by coming to original artists because they no longer scrape from old & existing IP, so they looking for newer IP to steal from. That means someone one day can prompt song that come from your data set. So please be careful to believe these tech peeps because they can come off as noble, but your just another artists they gonna steal from and train their models off. It ain’t with it in the long run.

You dope and I just feel like Suno knows what they are doing. I know it’s very layered and you’ve got a great team behind you but I feel like they are trying to incentivize you to train their machines up to profit on their own down the line. I just feel like I’m happy for your opportunities you get in your career because I’m a fan but I lowkey hate this lol

It sounds fishy to me. No one does anything for free. What they say verbally can still be different to what they say contractually. The companies that usually have ‘better’ incentives are usually VC backed. What happens when the VC want a return on their investments?

I personally think that while the bag can be tempting, in the long run it can be harmful both to credibility/reputation, and to learning/discovery/skill development. I’d prefer to keep art and creativity in the hands of human artists so I wouldn’t do it

personally, no matter how they explain it away, the very foundation of suno is theft. that alone makes it incredibly hard to accept what i honestly see as whitewashing on their part, through what would otherwise be a great grant programme. that said, survive capitalism however you can, sis.

Do it abeg, this world view people have around AI whilst being so entrenched in technology doesn’t make sense. This technological advancement is coming to music whether people like it or not, and similar to many advancements eg in music where instruments became digital vs being recorded natively or even things like uber vs traditional cabs/minicabs, you can resent the change but it’s coming and those who adopt it quicker will be better off, right or wrong sadly doesn’t come into play here in these scenarios. Someone like you will legitimise the platform and that’s why they want you, not even just to train the model but if it inspires the next gen of musicians to jump on Suno, whatever they pay you in the grant will be tiny in comparison

It’s a trap do not do it, copyright they’re fooling you with the marketing. And plus the contract says you’re gonna be trapped in the Suno platform, you won’t be able to use any other AI tools to help you with your music ones that are actually better and are more tools than plagiarizing machines.
