A man allegedly created an entire fake NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers—and federal authorities say he used it to scam at least 26 women out of approximately $1.3 million. 😳🏈 Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, allegedly met women through dating apps and convinced many of them that they were in legitimate romantic relationships with a wealthy 49ers wide receiver or successful real-estate investor. Authorities say Love built an elaborate online persona to sell the story. He posted videos of himself training in 49ers gear, carried a replica 49ers helmet, flaunted rented luxury cars and maintained an Instagram account featuring “NFL Journey,” “Year 1,” “Free Agency” and “Super Bowl” highlights. He even reportedly used a Google AI result mentioning him as a 49ers player as “proof,” telling viewers, “That’s Google, not me.” Love allegedly used multiple names, including Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love, while displaying fabricated bank balances, investment accounts and screenshots to make himself appear worth tens of millions of dollars. His alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, reportedly posed as his financial adviser. Prosecutors say the pair held three-way FaceTime calls with victims, showed them falsified investment gains and promoted nonexistent investment opportunities promising massive returns. Some women were allegedly encouraged to take out personal loans and send them the money. None of the identified victims reported receiving their money back or earning any returns. Once victims ran out of money or began asking too many questions, Love allegedly blocked them and disappeared. Love and Chan were arrested at Boise Airport on August 24 while authorities say Love was in Idaho looking to meet new potential victims. The FBI has identified 26 alleged victims across California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho—and investigators believe there could be many more.
