Here is how I see it. I think there are real feelings there. I think they are trying to keep it under wraps and testing things because the “lingorm project” is still a workplace thing. However orm and ling are probably one of the only pairs who went through what is recognisably a slow burn in their lives. They are fascinating because it’s like puppy love. Orm has always liked ling but I think the thought of loving ling panicked her. Just as ling started reciprocating she built up distance in panic. But ling is a the opposite. She had a wall up but got slowly worn down. So for a lot of 2025 they had inverted their openness. Ling is talking about sometime this year when orm has finally brought her guard back down and said unprompted that she is happy to be with ling. It’s probably hard for the girls themselves because anything that is said in public becomes a question of whether it is real or for the fans. But this story is from an unexpected and unprompted time which is why it is so meaningful. I genuinely think this might be one of the only pairs in GL who turn their friendship into a real relationship because of the growth of each person. Fans who like to see their ships be hot and sexy together immediately, have perfect in sync answers, have lots of public outings, imply that they live together after filming one series etc. are the ones most likely to be following fantasy I feel.
