FYI rats 🐀 like ivy to make a nest. Unfortunately you fixed a minor issue. Now set up some rodent traps and bait stations to eliminate the problem . Before you ask. I’m a professional exterminator 🐀

Ivy looks nice. BUT, ivy league colleges have removed it. Ivy roots grow into brick and cement and destroy the buildings. And, animals love living and hiding in Ivy. If you want to control pests, remove their homes

You are going to need traps. Ones that are preferrably instant. If you dont eliminate them, they wont be going anywhete. I don't agree with poisons because they are slow painful acting and other animals might eat the carcas and also die.
