@tavelarocque: Day 79 of the @HigherUpWellness speak your mind challenge. the word passion doesn't mean excitement. it literally means to suffer. it comes from the latin passio, to suffer or endure. it's why the suffering and death of jesus is called the passion. somewhere along the way we flattened it into a word for a hobby you enjoy. but the original meaning is the more useful one by far. because "follow your passion" was never supposed to mean do what feels good. it meant find the thing you're willing to suffer for. everyone loves the reward. the question that actually sorts people is what pain you'll walk into again and again for something. that's not the thing that excites you. it's the thing you'll bleed for and still call it worth it. don't ask what you love. love is cheap. ask what you're willing to suffer for. that's your real passion, and it's the only one that lasts. #discipline #philosophy #stoicism #faith #edit
Love is not Cheap. God is love. thats the only issue I have with this video. There is no greater Love than to lay down one's life for his friends. and Jesus poured his blood out for us because he loves us. He paid the ultimate price for love.

I think youre misrepresenting this in today's terms. its mot a flat term for a hobby , it is "what makes your heart burn with emotion, what brings yearning to the level of addiction, what makes your soul ignite with the light that has always existed inside of you" it is a very serious term not a "flat" word used for hobbies. something you are passionate about is the meaning of life, not a pass time that brings a modicum of joy.

I feel this is similar to a video i made.
Hunger vs passion.
With hunger you either get fed or you starve to death, however hunger is able to build a reoccurring action which we call discipline.
Passion is to do something you love so much that whether you win or lose you still to continue to do it. this builds devotion.
The difference between a disciplined person and a devoted person is that ,the disciplined are willing to put their body on the line ,where devoted people are prepared to lose it.

I have to disagree with you. Compassion is the passion to create. It is the source within constantly creating.

BRO that makes sense why lust is the fallen state of passion. lust is completely selfish, while long suffering is completely selfless.... wow
