Rebecca Edger :
As good as weight lifting is for you and your bone density, muscles, overall health etc., it is also important to be careful to not allow weight lifting to become an obsession to the point where it basically becomes a part of the disorder. Eating disorders can shift and evolve as a way to keep the sufferer stuck and to maintain its life, almost. Weight lifting can be a life saver for some people in recovery but possibly a detriment to others. EDs are so complex and every individual case is different, and it’s so crucial to take that into consideration when discussing this stuff😁

I shouldn’t say that connecting eating more with physical activity is the greatest advice…. don’t get me wrong, yes it is good for the body be active (in a reasonable amount), but using it as an “excuse” to justify eating more is a pretty destructive idea. And also, only connecting food intake with a look or control is an unhealthy mentality. Me myself included have a hard time letting go of the idea that I have to justify my eating and let me tell you that being obsessed with the concept of control your body and food intake is never a good thing. You are really just switching from one thing to another other

As someone with anorexia, I believe this is quite problematic. Lifting weights (or working out in general) might be good for some people in recovery, but for others it can actually be very harmful (both mentally and physically)

People need to stop thinking that calories immediately turns into body fat when in reality it goes to energy, fuel, and helps your physical and mental wellbeing. Kinda like gas to a car

This is exactly what I did and now I eat way more and if anything look way more leaner. You learn that food is fuel and not the enemy

I already lift weights and have done so for the past several years, I need to muster the courage to consistently eat more calories overall😌
