@Heathers water and ice🍦 @Jase Lyle As I sit here eating my snow cone from Heather’s Water and Ice, I want to tell you about my little brother, Jase. And maybe, in telling you about him, I can tell you something you need to hear tonight. I don’t know what you’re going through. I don’t know who you’ve lost, what you’re carrying, or how heavy today feels. But if you’re dealing with loss, you are not alone. And I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that it just “gets better.” I don’t know if it does. Some days, for me, it does. Some days I can laugh. I can live. I can experience something beautiful and genuinely be grateful to be here. And some days, I still miss my little brother in a way that words will never be able to explain. Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. But I made a decision: I refuse to let my brother’s death simply be the end of his story. I refuse to stop saying his name. I refuse to pretend it didn’t happen because talking about it makes people uncomfortable. And I refuse to let someone else sit alone in their darkness believing nobody could possibly understand what they’re feeling. Because maybe the purpose we find in our pain isn’t that the pain disappears. Maybe it’s that we survive long enough to turn around and reach back for somebody else. Maybe somebody needs to see you keep going. Maybe somebody needs to hear you talk about the person you lost. Maybe your survival becomes evidence to another hurting human being that they can survive today too. That’s part of how I choose to remember Jase. His life mattered. His story still matters. And as long as I have a voice, I’m going to use it. So if darkness surrounds you tonight, keep pressing forward. You don’t have to have the rest of your life figured out. Just don’t quit today. Because one day, somebody may hear your story and realize: “I’m not the only one.” And sometimes knowing you’re not alone is enough to keep you here. Jase, your story lives on. And I’ll keep telling it. #RadicalMovement
