My sister always says “I do not negotiate with terrorists”. If her son has a tantrum and starts screaming she tells him she can’t hear him when he screams - only when he uses his normal voice. Then silently puts him in his room. He can come out when he is calm. She has had his bedroom 100% sound proofed. As she always says “I am not allowing a child to disregulate me and I don’t want to hear it”. And it WORKED. He learned through repetition he gets no reaction when he has a tantrum. NONE.

Not disagreeing with your general technique here, but it appears to me that she is upset by being recorded. I don’t have the whole context of the clip, but it seems that this isn’t just about this child’s behavior, but the adult antagonizing the child.

What worked for me..Each time they threw a screaming tantrum..I would lead them to their room..sit them on the bed..When you're done screaming. You can come out..took a minute..but they all learned..same thing if we were out..I would take them to the bathroom...I didn't have time to play the nice game..you scream..there's consequences..

Start this at 2 years old. Waiting in silence while they scream will feel like you're ignoring them. That's the system installing. If you're the one answering the scream just to end it: say it once, keep your voice the same, wait for the regular voice, then answer. No answering the scream.

I just put my daughter in timeout for two minutes and she calms down. Then I tell her in simple words why we don’t scream. Needless, to say, she stopped screaming and she would just ask if tell me what she wanted. Sometimes she was just tired so things started to change.
