What are your green flags (or non negotiable’s) in a man? 💚 This is it for me. Ryan took Leo to a parent/kid jujitsu class at our local gaff alliance jujitsu in Fulham this weekend and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Two of them looking smart in their uniform🥋 . I love seeing the boys in their gi’s rolling around on mats. Falling over. Laughing. Trying again. Rosey cheeks and sweaty. I haven’t seen Ryan smile like this in a while. I actually had a moment mid way through where I tapped him on the shoulder and said ‘hey I think if we ever reach a rough spot in our relationship again all we need to do is a bit of sport and we’ll be ok’. For us it takes us back to our primitive happy state. We like moving and shaking. It makes us laugh a lot. I always fall on the floor with competitiveness when doing sporty stuff and Ryan finds it the perfect combination of attractive and HILARIOUS. Ryan got really into this session at one point and forgot that anyone was watching as he nailed someone in a dodgeball game at the end - clearly forgetting he was playing with kids. Pah! I love seeing him distracted from the mundane-ness of day to day slog. Eat, sleep, walk the dogs, playground session, work, repeat. It’s nice to find positive hobbies. I love this place because of the community. People coming together to practise routine and discipline on a weekend. People wanting to learn through movement. It’s such an ordinary scene. And yet it feels radical. To me this represents what emotional availability looks like for our kid This is what present fatherhood looks like. This is what secure masculinity looks like. It’s choosing to be inside your child’s world rather than watching from the edges. It’s teaching a little boy that strength can be gentle, that discipline can be playful and that getting stuck in isn’t something to be embarrassed by. I talk about green flags a lot, but this is the kind that has made me raise the bar for my entire life. Everyone deserves a partner who shows up like this. And ever child deserves to be loved like Leo. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, but an hour together on a Saturday morning means the world to them. #parentsoftiktok #boymum #dadgoals #greenflag #jujitsu
