@monicaumunna: If we say we want a husband who leads, protects, and has vision for our family, we also have to be willing to receive his guidance when that leadership requires him to correct us. He may be able to see an outcome that we can’t see in the moment. Not because he’s always right, but because he isn’t standing in the same emotional place we are. I’ve learned that some of the things my husband has corrected me on were things I genuinely could not see for myself at the time. Looking back, I’m grateful I trusted his wisdom instead of letting my feelings make the decision for me. Makes sense. My worship leading ex husband tried to warn me not to ask questions about his relationships with other women to protect me from his violent outbursts. He could definitely forsee the damage that would cause, and I definitely prohibited him in protecting me in his rage. I was experiencing hurt and confusion, and thought clarity would help, but he knew better that the outcome would be his rage. Hindsight is 20/20, had I not asked and seen his violent outburst, I would still be in that marriage. His protection would definitely have called me to higher abuse and confusion. He absolutely wanted to guide and protect me from the truth of who he was.
