i am curious about what this means in art, because in architecture the death of the image has led to a kind of flaccid formal nihilism, not really resistance. you either have an anti-discipline approach of complete “praxis” (more accurately some kind of half assed attempt at it), or a formal practice “before speech”- a crude miasma of confused self expression. the former throws away generations of built knowledge/strategies, the latter leaves the discursive lane wide open to occupation by the most sinister reactionary forces. maybe i’m just too pessimistic but i hope the art world has some way out of this bind

I have been exploring this contradiction in my work most of my career. the self is a construct and creation is a vehicle to synthesize a non verbal relationship with identity and interaction with subconscious intent. we seek to rationalize experience and outside of that rationalization haven't defined the irrational experience in a cultural structure such as defining art in the West.
