@rah_inactive: HTTD: How’s Etau Doing? UPDATE 1 - Tropical Storm Etau: Tropical Storm Etau is now active in the Western Pacific Basin, becoming the first of two storms that formed close to each other on the basin, that being Typhoon Bang-Lang (update on that shortly). The storm is currently struggling with wind shear, both naturally and some caused by 'Bang-Lang,' about 400 miles (~645km) south-southeast from Etau’s center, where it is expected to perform a Fujiwhara Effect with the neighboring storm and potentially lose the fight, albeit having a larger circulation. As of right now, Etau currently has maximum sustained winds of up to 40mph (~65kph) with an estimated central air pressure of 990mb, moving due north at an estimated speed of 7mph. Etau has made some prior impacts against the U.S. military island base of Wake, which is expected to be the only impact the storm will make as the JTWC expects the storm to transition into a post-tropical cyclone within the next 12 to 18 hours. Forecasting models remain pretty uncertain with the storm’s potential track over the next three days as it continues to move generally north, although this isn’t expected to affect the chances of Etau impacting any land regions, which is currently zero.
