@designsbyzuedi: 🤍 White isn't boring. But your white room might be. Welcome to the Psychology of Color: WHITE Edition. We treat white like the safest color in interior design. Want the room to feel bigger? Paint it white. Want it to feel modern? Paint it white. Want it to feel expensive? Paint it white. But here's the problem: White is NOT the absence of color. White has temperature. White has undertones. White responds dramatically to light. And every white creates a different emotional experience. 🤍 Cool white can feel crisp + architectural. 🥛 Cream can feel warm + enveloping. 🦴 Bone can feel organic + sophisticated. 🐚 Oyster can feel soft + mineral. 🏛️ Limestone white can feel earthy + luxurious. And if you're designing an almost entirely white room, here's my rule: LESS COLOR = MORE TEXTURE. Instead of: White wall. White sofa. White rug. White curtains. White accessories. Try: Warm limestone plaster. Ivory linen. Cream bouclé. Bone-colored wool. Natural hemp. Pale travertine. White oak. Handmade ceramic. A little dark walnut. Aged brass. Now we're not simply decorating with white. We're designing with a FAMILY of whites. And through an Afro-Caribbean lens, a neutral interior doesn't mean the culture disappears. Think sun-washed plaster, linen, cane, raffia, woven fibers, clay, carved wood, mahogany, handmade ceramics, restrained indigo and one extraordinary piece of Caribbean or diasporic artwork. Because Afro-Caribbean design does not have to scream tropical color to communicate culture. Sometimes culture lives in the material. Sometimes it lives in craftsmanship. Sometimes it lives in the story of one extraordinary object. So here's my hill to die on: White should NEVER be the color you choose because you don't know what else to do. White still requires intention. And sometimes the thing your white room desperately needs... is something that isn't white. 👀 Would you choose warm white or cool white for your home?
