With VR&E you’re supposed to do a certificate of deferment for your school. You have to contact your school’s VA department. This establishes a trail that you are a veteran and that VA (no matter which chapter) will be paying your tuition. This keeps your from being dropped and it also make the VA DEPARTMENT of your school reach out to the VA regarding payment. I found out recently that VA does not make a payment until after the first drop of the semester. I’m currently using benefits and my tuition hasn’t been paid yet and won’t be until mid September and I’m currently on deferment until then. They can’t drop a veteran.

and folk be on here glorifying VR&E because they got a free laptop & printer but never mention the horror some of us go thru after we get it... my counselor acted like my supplies was paid out of her pocket, she literally told the people at my school if I wanted supplies then I would have to pay for it myself, when we literally are supposed to get a stipend just for supplies every semester, I had to advocate for myself .. it's like they hate us

I hated the VR&E so bad!! The counselors suck! And for this program to be for disabled veterans, it’s disappointing the way they handle things.

That’s why a lot of people end up using their GI bill, these new counselors are horrible to deal with. They act like they’re using their own check to fix these issues.

I think it’s all of them, i have reported my counselor in Hawaii MANY OF TIMES! And know others that have communication issues with them as well

My 1st Counselor disappeared but this random counselor picked me up on accident & SHE HAS BEEN THE BEST 😭 I got Lucky, she’s uh Black Women who care. Answers my E-mail & phone call. I’m in G.A. Sorry this happened 2 you, God Blessed me with uh good 1 ❤️

I hear all these horror stories bt i have had zero issues with my counselor, payments or anything … I’ll pray for yall that’s dealing with bad counselors.. my NC counselor is great 👏🏾

My VRE counselor helped me in the beginning. Then went ghost. Never answers any calls or emails. But I get the automated texts monthly for school. She only comes at the blue to help with payments and stuff when I go crazy on emailing and calling everyone else. And I’m in Texas

@Danielle: Are located in Georgia? I had the same issue. Anytime I couldn’t get in touch with my counselor. I would give her a week and a half to respond and then I will just pop up at the main office in Atlanta. Then asked to speak to the supervisor and the supervisor would certify me right then and there.
