Y’all remember that one Mario game it kind of reminds me of this. I don’t remember the game name. I don’t know. I remember I was just watching it on YouTube.

For those who don’t understand this feeling here’s why that Dark Fantasy video feels nostalgic, and what happens in your brain: *1. "PS1 / N64 broken" aesthetic* Your brain recognizes the low-poly graphics, weird textures, and glitchy lighting. It looks like 90s/2000s video games. Even if you never played _that_ exact game, your memory links it to "childhood + old computer + playing alone at night." That instantly triggers nostalgia. *2. "Weirdcore / Dreamcore"* The red room, the creepy baby, the chandelier... everything is off. Your brain loves finding patterns. When it sees something "almost normal but wrong," it goes: "Where have I seen this? Was it a dream?" That déjà vu + unease = nostalgia for childhood dreams. As kids we all dreamed about weird houses and monsters. *3. Cute + disturbing contrast* A baby should be cute. But this one has 1 eye, blue teeth, and screams. Your brain doesn’t know if it should feel scared or affectionate, so it gets stuck on it. This is called the "uncanny valley" + "liminal nostalgia." Empty places, hallways, red rooms... they feel like empty schools or childhood homes. *What’s happening in your brain?* 1. *Memory*: Your hippocampus searches for similar memories. "This looks like an old game." 2. *Emotion*: Your amygdala releases dopamine because it’s new + a little bit scary. It’s adrenaline with zero real danger. 3. *Patterns*: Your brain tries to make sense of something that doesn’t make sense. And that’s addictive. So you’re not nostalgic for the video itself. You’re nostalgic for the _feeling_ of finding weird stuff online as a kid. That’s why stuff like Dark Fantasy, The Backrooms, and old PS1 games hit so hard. Did it remind you of old games or of weird dreams?
