এটি চীনের একটি প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্যবাহী প্রথা, যাকে "পাও সিউচিউ" (Pao Xiuqiu / 抛绣球) বা রেশমি বল ছুঁড়ে মারা বলা হয়। প্রধানত চীনের চুয়াং (Zhuang), তুজিয়া (Tujia) সহ বিভিন্ন ক্ষুদ্র নৃগোষ্ঠীর সংস্কৃতিতে এই ঐতিহ্য প্রচলিত। ঘটনাটির কারণ ও প্রেক্ষাপট: প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য (বর নির্বাচন): ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে অবিবাহিত তরুণীরা বিয়ের পাত্র নির্বাচনের জন্য উঁচু বারান্দা (Xiulou) থেকে নিচে অবস্থানরত যুবকদের উদ্দেশ্যে নকশা করা একটি লাল রেশমি বল বা কাপড়ের পুটলি ছুঁড়ে মারত। নিচে থাকা যুবকদের মধ্যে যে সেটি ধরে ফেলত বা কুড়িয়ে নিত, তাকেই কনের পছন্দনীয় বর হিসেবে গণ্য করা হতো। বর্তমান রূপ (পর্যটন ও কাল্পনিক বিবাহ): বর্তমানে চীনা প্রাচীন শহর ও পর্যটন কেন্দ্রগুলোতে (যেমন: ফুরং বা ফেংহুয়াং শহর) পর্যটকদের বিনোদনের জন্য এই লোকজ প্রথাটি নাট্যরূপ হিসেবে পরিবেশন করা হয়। ছেলেটির কুড়িয়ে নেওয়ার কারণ: ওপর থেকে পড়া লাল কাপড়/বলটি নিচে থাকা কোনো পুরুষ পর্যটক কুড়িয়ে নিলে বা ধরলে তাকে মজার অংশ হিসেবে ওপরের ঘরে ডেকে নেওয়া হয়। সেখানে তাকে ঐতিহ্যবাহী বরের পোশাক পরিয়ে একটি কাল্পনিক বিয়ের নাটক (Interactive Mock Wedding) পারফর্ম করানো হয়, যা পর্যটকদের জন্য অত্যন্ত উপভোগ্য একটি অভিজ্ঞতা।
