@leilarfn: part ii since y’all loved pt 1!! #wordvomit #learnings just wanted to add this because i think it’s important: i’m able to talk about my mother and my upbringing this positively now because there has been YEARS of work on both our ends to get here. a lot of understanding, humility, forgiveness, and genuinely learning how to love each other in depth. part of growing up for me was also having the humility to stop seeing my mom as just “my mom” and start seeing her as a human being. not perfect, not always right, but a person who was also figuring life out with what she knew and what she had. acknowledging that is what truly allowed me to see her in this light & learn from her i think sometimes when i share things like this, it’s easy to assume this kind of relationship was only possible because we had money, or because life was easy, or because everyone involved was emotionally healthy and equipped from the start. these all couldnt be further from the truth. it’s easy to oversimplify someone’s life based on the version they’re finally able to speak about with peace but this perspective did not come for free. it came from years of work, on both sides:)

We all have different types of parents. Please be a little kinder to them. They are also trying to navigate life during those times. They are also learning. Maybe that’s why they are more gentle on their grandkids. 🤍

My mom boxed me so much in my younger years that I don’t how to decide for myself. I am still learning it now, i’m 28 :< i think i’m partly at fault because i’m too scared to disappoint her so i kept pleasing her :<

heavy on the freedom, trust, accountability! giving me the room to make mistakes on my own actually made me more cautious of my actions vs. hovering over me. never forcing decisions on me but helps me to think on my own, seeing me as an adult in my thoughts and opinions. what a gift!!

Her video is not meant for us to compare our parents. If ours are different, it doesn’t mean that they weren’t as good as hers. This video is more of an inspiration for current/future parents that could help them/us navigate the parenting era 🥰🫶🏼

Your parents really raised you well, Ate! Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights with us and now I know why you're so smart, not just in academics, but also in other aspects in life. This vid is very an eye opener esp for those who aspire to be a good, healthy parent with their kids someday! 🫶

Love it Leila. Thanks for sharing. Your parents instil a very strong core beliefs during the years when your subconscious mind is most receptive. Philippine parenting programs need to highlight how critical ages 1 to 7 are. The core beliefs built during this period directly shape a child's future reality. I wish the government make it mandatory for the future parents to learn this, because this is basically what's making our country Poor.

I came from part 1^^~ I agree micromanaging our kids won't help at all. Rules and building self discipline probably would. I like that you acknowledged that your mom is just around to support you. And oh, the part na hindi binawalan mag boyfriend.

i’m jealous of parents like yours, they were helicopter parents and my dad til now and im almost 30, i was never allowed to do any hobbies during school season and only schoolwork, couldnt talk to them about my problems with anything and esp about them, a lot, loves to embarrass me, and believes that fear is discipline for them and making kids scared of you is the best parenting
