A pride technically is run by a dominant male lion. When a stray male finds a pride, he challenges and fights the dominant male for control of the pride. If he wins, he eliminates all the cubs and makes cubs of his own with the lionesses. Yes lionesses Hunt o but when it comes to hostile takeover of a pride the intruder goes for the leader which is the dominant male. You left out the part where, when an incoming male coalition takes over a pride, they may kill the previous males’ cubs. Lionesses do try to defend their young,they may hide or relocate them, avoid the incoming males, and sometimes successfully protect their cubs. However, they generally have limited ability to stop a determined male coalition from taking control of the pride.❤️😂
