We ask if they are willing to speak us and respect whatever decision they make. There are thousands of stories you never see because the families said ‘no’, the stories you see are because the families said yes. We are also human beings and would never harass a family going through grief. In this case, I messaged Linda one message in which I introduced myself and asked her if she was comfortable taking an interview, she responded and said yes. Interestingly enough, at the beginning of our interview, I asked about the fact that she’s done a lot of media interviews and I think her answer is worthwhile to listen to.
