@keirsimmons: HISTORIC JEDDAH : SAUDI ARABIA : On assignment in Jeddah we took a look around the old city or ‘Al Balad’ and found a guy who wanted to show us the mosque. Turns out Al Shafe’i mosque is one of the oldest in the world dating back 1400 years. And in the foundations they have preserved the original building from that time. Historical Jeddah is being cleaned up and has become a fascinating place to visit… a UNESCO World Heritage site that began as a fisherman’s village and became a gateway for pilgrims from around the world.
