Tbf he kinda was He was Iron Man's Fcking Protégé, received Cap's approval, Beat Sam and Bucky, and Damn near every hero he interacted with in End Game liked him. Then he lost it all in NWH, which is what makes BND so Poignant, bcuz he was genuinely being raised to be the best of them, but will never be recognised as such ever again
