Speaking of mechanics, an honor system is making a comeback from Red Dead Redemption 2. When Jason pets a dog in the footage, a tiny angel icon flashes on the screen, hinting that your actions across the state of Leonida will have real consequences. The game is also blending modern culture seamlessly into the gameplay. During the "trunk challenge" driving scene with Lucia, a live social media chat feed appears right on the screen in real-time. The AI is getting a massive upgrade as well. When you are robbing a store, your AI-controlled partner acts autonomously—like handling the cashier while you watch the door. You can even take on solo jobs while the other character is across the map. For the explorers out there, the NPC interaction UI briefly showed a "study" prompt for wildlife, heavily hinting at a massive flora and fauna journal just like Arthur Morgan had. The driving experience is also evolving with a new HUD featuring 3D buildings on the minimap. Be careful what you steal, though, because high-end cars now have active GPS trackers.
