It’s unfortunate that a lot of these things really don’t go without saying. When it comes to your beliefs and when someone is sick- keep it short and respectful. “I’m praying for you”, “you’re in my prayers” - completely fine. Even though I’m not religious myself I definitely appreciate the sentiment and it’s very kind of you. “You need to pray to”, “you need to believe in”, “you need to say this prayer”, etc…. Disrespectful. Even when I was a Christian I absolutely NEVER would have said something like that to someone. If you truly believe a certain prayer needs to be said or a certain deity needs to be prayed to - pray to them yourself if your intentions truly are pure. It sucks that it always seems to be Christians who are the MOST pushy when it comes to their beliefs. Because I know and have known really good Christian people who I don’t have a bad word to say about and who are completely respectful of others with different beliefs. And it’s people like the ones in the video that give the rest of them a bad name. Last but arguably the MOST important. Do NOT EVER tell ANYONE to go against medical advice in favour of prayer. There are a lot of us sickies who are in a very vulnerable position who are looking for a miracle and your advice could literally harm or even kill them. Your beliefs are just that, YOUR beliefs.
