I’m sorry but Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns is still THE Catwoman for me. The stitched-up suit, the makeup slowly getting more destroyed throughout the movie, the way she switches between Selina Kyle and Catwoman… everything about this version is just weird, dark and slightly unhinged. And honestly Batman Returns as a whole barely feels like a normal superhero movie. Tim Burton basically made a gothic Christmas movie where Danny DeVito is living in the sewer, Christopher Walken is being Christopher Walken, and Michelle Pfeiffer gets pushed out of a window, comes home, destroys her apartment and turns herself into Catwoman. Like what were they cooking in 1992 😭 But Pfeiffer completely sells it. Catwoman can be funny, seductive, angry, vulnerable and genuinely kinda scary depending on the scene. Even the suit looks better because it isn’t perfect. Those giant white stitches make it look like Selina literally pieced this new version of herself together in her apartment — because she did. There have obviously been a lot of great versions of Catwoman since.
