One of the biggest things I promote is making your own breakouts AND Don’t poke wires. Here is my new load tester to 12V 55W and 4.58 amp draw. I always use a headlight to do a load test, but there have been numerous times where I’ve been extremely curious what my value actually is. There was one time I was working on a brand new truck and it was dropping out the TCM while driving. When I did a load test, I was able to see a slight difference on my ignition wire, but it was only just enough to say yeah that’s a little dimmer than those other wires. I ran a new wire and that fixed it. From that moment forward, that ate at my soul that I was not able to know the value on that load . I went to my International Trucks S13 T14 class and this was where I was introduced to putting a load parallel into circuit. After 22 years of being in this industry and after 15 years of focus, on diagnostics and electric and electrical module diagnostics, my brain just fell into the basement. I can’t even believe that I didn’t know you could do this. Sometimes it bothers me that I didn’t know something as simple as this - then I remind myself that it’s OK that I don’t know everything and this type of education humbles me. I still managed to get through all of my jobs and come out with all of my root cause and corrections without this tool. With my curiosity eating at me because I don’t have values, I just learned a new way to do something even after all these years. It’s pretty amazing that this job does not get old and I continue to be humbled and learn new things new ways to come to root cause or to get accurate values. Love electric love diagnostics and make some breakouts. #diesel #technician #truck #electric #mechanic
