What’s this watch got to do with DHL? Quite a lot, actually. It reminds me of my very good friend Eddie Jordan. And Eddie was an absolute masterclass in negotiation. Back in 1991, when Jordan Formula One needed sponsors, he had one sponsor wanting the car yellow and another wanting it white. So Eddie said yes to both. Lovely start. But instead of panicking when DHL objected, he got himself into the boardroom and sold them a bigger idea. Don’t blend in with every other white delivery company. Be yellow. Stand out. And then, because Eddie was Eddie, he made sure there was a little kicker in the deal. That’s the lesson. Great negotiators don’t just close the deal in front of them. They look for the extra move. The thing everyone else missed. The royalty. The upside. The “robbery”, as Eddie would call it. So whenever I’m looking at a deal now, I ask myself one question: What would Eddie do? #eddiejordan #formulaone #dhl #f1 #millionairemindset
