For those wondering what they are doing, they walk a few steps and a time, one guy taps the ground with that metal pole, so anyone trapped could hear. They hold their hands to the ground to feel if anything is moving while they shout to usually say "is anyone here?", the keep silent for a few seconds to feel and hear. It is critical to find those still alive with the first 72 hours. No equipement, because they need to do it fast, waiting for equipment to be shipped to the area might be time consuming and difficult, wasting precious time.

Futile? Perhaps. But I see this as proof of how much they respect human life, all life, and also as a meaningful gesture of respect for the souls of the dead. What else can you do???

What a weird feeling…. Just looking at that place you can sense the loneliness and lifelessness of it, but when you acknowledge at the same time it was populated and hundreds of people used to walk there just makes u feel weird 🙁

This is mud and flooding stretching for hundreds of kilometres, not a building that collapsed in one place where it’s easier to search for bodies. It’s extremely difficult to find the bodies because the whole area has become their burial site.
