Uni Shopping List! 📝💸 When I was a baby vet student, I remeber being SHOCKED at the list of equipment we were told to buy before even starting vet school! It was definitely an unexpected cost, and I only found out after spending a significant amount of money, that there are “buy and sell” Facebook groups so you can buy everything second hand!! 2. You have to organise most of your own placement 🩺🩻 This doesn’t feel like that big of a deal, until you remeber that there’s something like 36 weeks worth to book yourself!! This (again) plays into costs too - accomodation, travel, food etc etc. Definitely ask around your local area to see which practices accept vet students, and better yet, speak to current/previous vet students to find out where their best placement experiences were because it can vary alottttt between practices!! I would recommend only doing up to 2 weeks at a new practice, just in case it’s not quite what you imagined!! 🐶 I’m planning on making a video soon with tips and tricks on how to book placement! 3. Everyone knows everyone 👩🏼‍⚕️🐷 It really is SUCH a small world, and it helps so much having a support system around you that knows what you’re going through - because vet school can be tough!! This also applies to the working world - it really seems as though everyone knows everyone and gossip travels fasttttt (even between practices)!
