@jujumaoo: 🇰🇷 Miyeok Guk (Korean Seaweed Soup) / Birthday Soup (미역국) | Soups So Good It Can Cure Any Sickness Ep. 32 One of my favorite Korean soups of all time! This soup is commonly served during birthdays or taken by nursing moms after giving birth because it is believed to help with the process of recovery :) Super simple to make with few ingredients needed but the same satisfaction when eating a really good soup! Huge Shoutout to Maangchi who helped inspire my version of this recipe! Pretty much the same thing but i tweaked some ingredients for a deeper and beefier tasting soup. You can opt for water instead of beef stock if you want a lighter soup. *Some measurements are estimates so season and adjust to your liking :) INGREDIENTS: Meat: - 1/2 - 1 kg of beef brisket, cubed Seaweed: - 1 pack of Korean dried seaweed (Miyeok) - Cold water as needed Miyeok Guk: - 3 tbsp of sesame oil - Beef Stock/Bone broth or water as needed - 2 tbsp of beef Dasida powder (or to taste) - 2 tbsp of Korean fish sauce - 1 tbsp of Korean soy sauce - Salt and pepper to taste - 10-15 garlic cloves, minced INSTRUCTIONS: - Sauté the beef in sesame oil until nicely browned. - Rehydrate the Korean dried seaweed, then drain and roughly chop. Add to the pot with the beef. - Add the remaining ingredients under “Miyeok Guk” and bring everything to a gentle simmer. - Simmer for around 20-30 minutes or until beef is tender. add in minced garlic and let the residual heat cook it through. - Serve and enjoy!!! #Soups #Soup #cookingasmr #asmr
People in the comments are disrespectful. They don’t know that in South Korea women eat this soup after giving birth to help with postpartum recovery and milk production. And also it’s a tradition to eat this soup on your birthday every year

Comments make me feel clever asf. You saw every stage of making this. Nothing harmful added. Literally vegetables, meat and seasonings. Same people triggered over the colour will go eat mystery meat burgers and drink neon coloured drinks with no clue of what they’re putting in their body😭😭

Honestly, it's exhausting seeing people call miyeok-guk(seaweed soup) "disgusting" or "weird" without knowing anything about it. In Korea, mothers eat it after giving birth to recover, and then on your birthday, you eat it again to honor your mom. Every bowl is basically a thank-you to the person who brought you into the world. And before you say some cultures' foods are disgusting, please look it up. Do a quick search. Learn why it matters to people. You don't have to like the taste, but calling it gross without context is just rude. Also, if you're into K-pop and K-dramas but then turn around and mock Korean food, you're not really appreciating the culture and you're just cherry-picking the parts that feel fun or trendy. Same thing happens with Japanese culture and anime. Liking the entertainment doesn't mean you respect the people or their traditions. Food is a huge part of that, so maybe show a little consistency.
