When families in Gaza are forcibly displaced from their homes—not once, but three, four, or even as many as ten times over—protection breaks down not just for them, but for all of us. Today in Gaza, displacement is not an exception. It is a defining reality. Over 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced. That means nine out of every ten people in Gaza have been forced to start over, carrying lifetimes worth of grief and whatever pieces of home they could gather, often at a minute’s notice. For a Palestine refugee, life can change within minutes and it can take generations to rebuild. In the face of ongoing loss, UNRWA staff, all of them Palestine refugees themselves, show up every single day to rebuild their communities. You have the power to directly support Palestine refugees. Share this post, raise awareness in your community, and keep talking about what Palestine refugees are going through until safety for Palestine refugees—and all forcibly displaced people—is the norm, not the exception. From Gaza to Syria and to Jordan, from Lebanon to the occupied West Bank (including East Jerusalem), and beyond, forced displacement anywhere is a threat to safety everywhere. Our work continues until we see the dignified, safe, and just future Palestine refugees deserve.
