Lana's character is much more nuanced than certain clips suggests. Lana is responsible for her own choices, but the show itself including Clark, Chloe and Martha (in lockdown & hypnotic)) acknowledges that Clark's secrecy contributed to the circumstances that brought Lex further into her life. Martha recognizes that the way Clark chose to break up, would only give Lana reasons to hate him—and she was right, it left Lana deeply hurt betrayed and emotionally vulnerable.
