What you may not realize is that by changing the name, the laws would no longer apply to Lake Ontario. That could potentially allow him to pump water from the lake and send it to California. That’s what he did with the Gulf of Mexico: now that it can be renamed the “Gulf of America,” he could theoretically get around certain restrictions and authorize new oil drilling in what is now being called the “Gulf of America,” even though the Biden administration had banned new drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Agreements were made to limit water withdrawals and pumping from the Great Lakes. While he is distracting the media with these name changes, he may have just pulled off a brilliant move.
