@nova_cosmoss: 🌍 TRAPPIST-1g — A Potentially Habitable World TRAPPIST-1g is an exoplanet located approximately 40 light-years from Earth in the constellation Aquarius. It is one of seven known planets orbiting the ultra-cool red dwarf star TRAPPIST-1, one of the most remarkable planetary systems discovered beyond our Solar System. The planet is approximately 1.13 times the diameter of Earth and has a mass slightly greater than Earth's. Its size and density suggest that TRAPPIST-1g could be a rocky world, although its exact composition and internal structure remain uncertain. TRAPPIST-1g completes one orbit around its star in approximately 12.35 Earth days. Because TRAPPIST-1 is much cooler and less luminous than the Sun, the planet can orbit extremely close to its star while receiving only a fraction of the energy that Earth receives from the Sun. TRAPPIST-1g is located near the outer region of the system's habitable zone. Under suitable atmospheric conditions, temperatures could potentially allow liquid water to exist. However, because it receives less energy than Earth, scientists believe the planet may require a sufficiently thick atmosphere and a strong greenhouse effect to maintain stable liquid water on its surface. Like the other planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system, TRAPPIST-1g is expected to be tidally locked. One side may permanently face its star, while the opposite side remains in permanent darkness. If the planet has a dense atmosphere or a global ocean, heat could potentially be transported between both hemispheres. The actual appearance of TRAPPIST-1g remains completely unknown. Scientists have not confirmed whether it has an atmosphere, oceans, continents, thick ice, or any form of life. Depending on its atmospheric conditions, it could potentially be a cold rocky world, an ice-covered ocean world, or a planet with regions where liquid water may exist. Because of its Earth-like size and location near the habitable zone, TRAPPIST-1g remains an important target for future studies of planetary atmospheres and potential habitability. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This image is a scientific concept illustration of TRAPPIST-1g. It is not a real photograph. The planet's actual surface, atmosphere, oceans, ice, clouds, and appearance remain unknown. 🛰️ Image Credit: NASA Supporting Images: Grok AI #NASA #Astronomy #habitableplanet #astronomylovers #planet
