As an Ottawa resident, I’d put a different spin on it. My proposal is Gander Avenue or Gander Way. After 9/11, when thousands of Americans were stranded because U.S. airspace was closed, the people of Gander graciously opened their doors and took care of them. Naming an Ottawa street after Gander would honour New York, remember 9/11, and celebrate the kindness and solidarity Canadians showed our neighbours when they needed it most 🇨🇦💛
