In most cases, performance declines gradually—and the system gives you important signals long before complete failure. 💧 ⛔️ The real challenge is knowing what those signals mean and what is happening inside the membrane. 🔹 Poor Pretreatment Suspended solids, colloids, and organic matter can accumulate on the membrane surface, increasing resistance and reducing permeate flow. 🔹 Biofouling Microorganisms can attach to the membrane and form biofilm, creating additional resistance and reducing system performance. 🔹 Scaling When dissolved minerals become concentrated, mineral deposits can form on the membrane surface, restricting water transport and increasing pressure requirements. 🔹 Chlorine Exposure Polyamide RO membranes are sensitive to oxidants.
