The saga continues! 🤣 . Of all the back-and-forth that came with Nigerian music during that period, Nico Gravity’s (@nicogravity9 ) “I Wan Finish Timaya” was in a world of its own. . Released in 2009, the song saw Nico Gravity take direct aim at Timaya, particularly what he saw as the singer’s excessive self-praise and emphasis on money, cars and success in his music. Nico would later explain that his intention was to call Timaya out on what he considered arrogance, while also maintaining that the song was entertainment and nothing personal. . Nico also acknowledged that the record came at a point when he was trying to re-establish himself on the music scene after spending some time away in Abuja. And it certainly got people talking. “I Wan Finish Timaya” became the record that pushed him into wider public attention. . Interestingly, Timaya never answered with a dedicated diss track. Years later, he explained that he had actually been a fan of Nico Gravity before the song and was surprised to find himself being targeted. He chose not to respond and even recalled using “I Wan Finish Timaya” as part of his entrance at shows. . Nico didn’t quite leave it there either, as the whole episode would eventually stretch into more material aimed at Timaya, including a follow-up to “I Wan Finish Timaya.” .
