Solid advice. Richard Thaler and Behavioral Economics are subjects worth looking at. I personally am debt free (and always have been) besides auto loan and painfully illiquid w/ 90% of my net worth in 401k. Just now dropped my contribution down (employer matched 1/2 with no limit so I spammed it) and it feels like I’m about a year away from having enough saved for a mortgage down payment or nicer car. The peace of mind of ages 59.5+ being covered or my family/beneficiaries being taken care of in the event of an earlier death from me is great.

People contributing to the 401k and can’t afford rent so they’re exhausting their balances weekly with hardship withdrawals. Doesn’t feel right to me

W take, totally agree. The only way to win with a 401k is to start working at 16-18 with no employment gaps

Completely agree! Turned off my 401K and got a DMP with reduced rates. Should have it all paid off by mid next year so I can put all that back in the market

9% growth vs 25%+ interest yeah the math is clear kill all debt even that old bald guy says you can’t invest while you’re in debt

people won't like your message, but I mostly agree with you here. fringe circumstances for select parties should keep getting the match, but those people would finish mopping up their unsecured debt in a year.
