@davis_salestraining: Have you thought of it this way? Matthew McConaughey discussed failing more and embracing risk during his appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty. I just loved this episode. I’ve always admired Mathew & loved how he talked about not only the need to fail more, but why we should seek it. Tbh … a lot of people could benefit from his advice. He mentions actually wishing for More Failure. McConaughey shared that when looking back at his life, he wishes he had taken more risks and failed more often. He explained that he often expects perfection from himself, but reality usually lands somewhere below that mark (such as getting an 88 instead of a 100). Rather than being hard on oneself, the goal is to accept the grade quickly and keep moving forward. Instead of treating failure as an embarrassing outcome to avoid, people should “shake hands” with it. Not failing usually means you are staying inside your comfort zone and not taking enough chances. When I first got into sales about 15 years ago, you might not know this, but I didn’t sell for 45 days. There were days where I’d sit on the street curb and cry because I couldn’t get myself to go talk to people at their door that I had never met. I had left the classroom to now be walking on the streets in neighborhoods l that I had never been before. It was overwhelming. I was embarrassed. It was a lot to take in. But I accepted the challenge and kept thinking outside the box until I figured it out. That decision completely changed not only my, but the life my kids will have and the life their kids will have. If you never fail, it may be a sign that you’re playing things too safely. Taking risks means accepting that some attempts will not work - but those failures can become part of the path toward success. The message is simple: don’t be ashamed of failure. Shake hands with it, learn from it, and keep moving forward.
