![At this very moment, across the entire earth, countless creatures are being fed, sustained, and maintained simultaneously. This is Allah — al-Muqeet, the Sustainer. Think about the oceans. Tiny plankton, enormous whales, schools of fish, and creatures hidden in the darkness of the deepest waters are all receiving the sustenance necessary for their survival. Each has different needs, different environments, and different means of obtaining its sustenance. Yet Allah sustains them all without interruption. And at the very same moment, He is sustaining life across the land. Birds search for food. Animals graze. Predators hunt. Insects feed. Humans eat and drink. Crops grow. Fruits ripen. Rain falls. Rivers flow. Milk is produced. The sustaining of creation never pauses. Allah says: أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ “Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision?” [Surah al-Mulk 67:21] If Allah withheld His sustenance, no creature could independently sustain itself. This is why knowing al-Muqeet fills the heart with love, awe, and trust. Awe at the unimaginable scale of His sustaining. Love for the One whose blessings reach us every moment.
