@praycoapp: I wanted to tell you about Elijah on Mount Carmel, one of the most spectacular scenes in the entire Bible. He alone challenges 450 prophets of a false god in front of the whole gathered nation of Israel: whichever god answers by fire from the sky is the true God. The 450 prophets shout, cut themselves, work themselves up for hours with zero result. Elijah, on the other hand, prays only once, calmly, without shouting or panic. God's fire falls instantly from the sky and consumes the offering, even though it had been soaked in water multiple times beforehand to make the miracle even more undeniable. But what gets told less often is that right after this moment of total glory, Elijah completely collapses, exhausted and deeply discouraged, to the point of wanting to die.
