First of all, professor mask, I gotta give you some credit. This time you managed to drag Christianity and Judaism into the story too, so at least Islam isn't carrying the whole headline by itself. 😭 But bro, you basically threw God, pagan gods, idols, statues, ancient beliefs, and Semitic names into one blender and called the result history. The whole message of the prophets was exactly the opposite: people kept inventing gods, idols, divine families, and objects of worship, while the prophets kept calling them back to one Creator, the Lord of heaven and earth, not something people carved from stone or shaped from clay. Finding ancient people with different ideas about God doesn't prove God evolved from their mythology. It proves people had different and competing beliefs about God, which isn't exactly breaking news. 😂

YHWH and Baal weren't just rivals, YHWH is a newcomer diety from a different region who eventually supercedes and takes baal's place. It's why baal was demonised.

Sir, this is an EXCELLENT explainer! Very well done. I always also like to point out that in the pantheon with El, Ashura and Yaweh there was also Baal whose temple in Jerusalem had a huge face with an open mouth that children would enter and come out as adults in a rite of passage leading to the stories of Baal eating children. When Baal worshipers were purged during a sectarian disagreement the Yaweh contingent destroyed Baals shrines and began using the area as a trash heap which they called Gehenna. The trash beat often caught fire or smoldered which is one of the origins of Hell/Gehena being a firery smoking place. This last might be a medieval invention but it IS fun to talk about.
