But that person didn’t know what you know now. They were doing the best they could with the heart, knowledge, wounds, and circumstances they had at the time. And somehow… they kept going. Every wrong turn taught you something. Every goodbye revealed something. Every disappointment changed something. Every storm stripped away another layer of who you thought you had to be. Until slowly, almost without realizing it, you began finding your way back to yourself. So don’t look at your past with shame. Look at that version of you with compassion. They survived things that taught you how to protect your peace. They loved people who taught you what love should never feel like. They stayed in places that eventually taught you when it was time to leave. And every step — even the ones you wish you could erase — helped build the road that brought you here. You didn’t become who you are despite everything you’ve been through. In many ways, you became who you are because you made it through. So forgive the old you. Thank them. Honor them. They were just trying to find their way home.
