@betibuilt: Don't wait to take these exams. The sooner you take it, the easier it will be, and the stronger your resume will look in the job market. I waited 2 years to take my FE exam after graduating, but luckily PPI was able to help me catch up quick, and pass on the first try. Grateful to be #sponsored by #PPI2Pass for this post. If you're ready to get your engineering license, PPI has their September course starting soon. 👉 Use link below to start learning and get a 15% discount. https://ppi2pass.com/?utm_source=influencer&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=summer_savings_2026&utm_content=betibuilt #electrical #engineering #student

Retired EE here. Had my PE for 25 yrs. IMHO, very few EE's need a PE. In my experience, if ur company is, for example, doing any design work for a city or municipality, they may require the drawings to be signed by a PE who is then taking personal responsibility for the design(i.e. water pumping station upgrade for city of XX) For straight B to B system sales, no PE was required(i.e. new conveyor system for xyz food company). Many looked at a PE like an MBA, as a differentiator that was most useful during job search/change, one of the reasons I got both. Good luck!

You do not need a PE as an EE

I was part of a compliance team for an electrical corporation and my manager was a PE. I departed from that company recently and trying to get a job as a senior engineer in that field. Do you think I have better chance to find a job with PE certicate?

Very few EE’s have a PE License. It’s usually EE’s working in the power field. When I took the test years ago there were 34 people taking the test. 2 were EE’s, one Chemical, one ME, and the remaining 30 were Civil.

If you think FE and PE exams are hard then you are not really doing EE job. if you actually do a technically challenged research and development EE job then you will find FE and PE one of the easiest thing ever

Civil PE here. When I took it I took the EIT in college. I didn't study. 8 years later took the PE. Without the guides I wouldn't have stood a prayer, but passed first try.
