@dougweaverart: Emotional Cheating and Coersive Consent are both concepts that deal with a lack of understanding of your partner's expectations when it comes to safety in the relationship. As we gain emotional maturity we often realize how much we did wrong in past relationships, and the best path forward is to focus on listening and understanding the expectations of safety and security now that the romantic relationship has ended. #Relationship #consent #couple #emotionalintelligence #tt

My husband's bestie is a woman. Not only does it not bother me, I found it ATTRACTIVE that he appreciates women enough as people that he values them as friends.

I’m realizing how very lucky I am to have the partner that I have. He’s not jealous at all. I really appreciate him for that.

You know when you are attracted to someone. You stop being around them. And you can have close friendships with women, but you don’t talk shit about your wife with them, good or bad, off the table!

100% it's about communication. My fiance is pan, I've never had an issue with him having close friendships with others, but it helps that he's very open and honest with me about those relationships. Like I know everything lol, didn't ask, he's just big on sharing the tea and I'm happy to be involved 🥰😂

Now I live my life as a man, but I did not always. My ex husband could not comprehend my relationship with my best friend, that I talk to her on the phone almost daily. He regularly commented that the only reason we weren’t dating was she didn’t,,,, understand that her interest in me was romantic- but don’t worry, he would never be mad at me for being with any girl 🙄

As an aroace trying to make/keep adult friendships, in a world where most adults will be partnered, thank you for this.

For my abusive ex, that meant isolating me. In the paperwork submitted he ranted that I had friends he disapproved of and talked to people who were using me (the projection…) and thought only family were acceptable to be around and talk to.

I work in a male populated industry. Men like to talk about wives and babies.

To clarify a little more for those who might want it - consent , a "yes" to a sexual activity, should be given freely, enthusiastically, and with an informed understanding of what is being said yes to. If you need to conjole, convince, guilt-trip or bribe your partner into agreeing to something then their "yes" , their agreement, is not consent. It is given out of fear, guilty, annoyance, fatigue etc. You had to do something to get them to say yes. This is cohersive agreement, not consent. The "yes" is in reality a "please stop". It is a "I'm saying no but you aren't listening".

Listen, I had no problem with my ex-husband having friends of the opposite sex. There was one friend that he went hiking with all the time. i had no problem with that. I knew her. But then my ex-husband started hanging out with a different woman for about a year and a half and I had no idea they were hanging out. And when I confronted him about it, he just said that they were just friends it was no big deal. It was a big deal because he kept it from me.

I saw a TikTok about micro cheating and my first thought was that heterosexual people need to stop victimizing themselves! I think it’s best not to be too strict on definitions of cheating but also open communication with one’s partner so both agree to the rules etc.
