Aristotle was born in 384 BCE in Stagira, a small Greek town in northern Greece. His father, Nicomachus, served as a royal physician to the Macedonian king, which exposed Aristotle to science and medicine from an early age. At seventeen, he traveled to Athens and joined Plato’s Academy, where he studied philosophy for nearly twenty years.
