I was so excited about this movie because I love the book, and it was awful. Tom and Jake’s relationship didn’t capture how tense/distant things were between them. They didn’t touch on Peter’s drinking AT ALL. The shed was changed into a basement, which was honestly less creepy. The Dominic and Norman thing was just TOTALLY botched and overhauled. Jake’s mom (little girl) barely talked to him. Karen is totally gone. Why are we in NJ and not England? Weren’t the arms supposed to be up in the shirts of the victims? They didn’t emphasize the non-sexual element to the killings, which I thought was important. Frank talks to Peter with the cop lady in the room, but in the book, he refuses to talk to ANYONE except Peter. It’s like they didn’t consult Alex North at all. He’s a phenomenal writer, and this screenplay was just awful and discordant.
