The two witnesses are the old and New Testament of the Bible. They cannot be killed meaning God’s word can NEVER be destroyed. They are witnesses of God: they show who he is. You find proof of this in Zechariah 4, where the exact set up of olive trees and candlesticks is found. When Zechariah asked the angel what they are, the angel “answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4 : 6 KJV. The Bible was the sole source of God’s word through the 1260 prophetic days (1260 literal years) of the dark ages when there was heavy persecution of God’s people, from 538AD to the year 1798.
