he's 100% right actually. legal liability is their biggest concern. I just find a new doctor because now I'm going to start fighting with my doctor?? the whole thing sucks

Works great unless they just choose not to put it in your chart. You have zero proof of anything that happened in that room and zero recourse. Found that out the hard way.

Tried.... I was very respectful. Healthcare provider immediately got defensive and ended the appt. Truthfully, it's enough to have chronic pain or undiagnosed health issues we should NOT have to tiptoe around and make excuses for subpar care and Doctors/Specialists who are not invested in your care. Worn. Out. 🤨🥼💊🙄🫤

Patient advocacy starts with the patient.... an outside source can be an additional advocate but it starts with the patient!

This is a great way to get your doctor to fire you. Patients have unrealistic expectations and figure that anything the doctor orders is going to be covered by insurance just because he asked for it. That’s wrong.

I said verbatim to my Kaiser doctor. He said “Ok, what else do you want me to chart?” He still denied my referral.

As a woman, this will very quickly get you black balled in a practice, notably, they will write in your chart that you are noncompliant for questioning what they suggested instead of honoring your request for further testing

So what you're saying is, we should hold them accountable for their actions, or lack of? Now, there's a thought. 🤔😏

thank you for reassuring us as patients being the executive decision makers of our own bodies, as far too many doctors refuse care simply because they believe they have the final say, especially for those of us who have been fighting for years for answers and have mostly abandoned seeking medical care because of this

Why would a doctor even deny any testing or referrals? What is the reasoning behind it bc it happens all the time.

You don't need to ask your doctor to create a paper trail. All you have to do is follow up with an email about the appointment. "Thank you for seeing me today regarding my desire to get testing done. We discussed that you did not want to proceed with this testing for (insert reasons here). To do my due diligence, I'm going to get a second opinion. If you would like to further contribute to my health team's understanding of your conclusion, you can include additional information in your reply or my chart." To be clear, I never said this would "work" at getting the care you need, but it does automatically make a paper trail.

You are starting a fight and possibly committing insurance fraud. Many times these requests come from the patient’s other provider, such as a naturopath who wants a bunch of expensive miscellaneous testing it’s never covered by insurance. Great advice, not.
