I started a self-care journey July 1 and really thought I had made great progress. Started sleeping thru the night, eating 90% clean dropped 15 extra pounds, exercising and meditating daily, diaphragmatic breathing exercises several times a day, my cholesterol and bp went back to normal, glucose back in normal range, etc. Felt like my nervous system was truly getting better. 5 weeks later I’ve been diagnosed out of the blue with silent reflux. Have no known triggers cuz it’ “silent” and had no idea anything was wrong. So I’ve had to change everything. So had to cut out most foods and liquids I love and eat/drink daily, sleep on my left side which I can’t do so I’m up all night, can’t run, have to talk in a high voice which is stressing me out so I have stopped interacting with people unless I have to, supposed to eat small meals all day long so no more intermittent fasting which was working for me so my gluclose is sure to rise, etc. All the gains I made seem futiie. I’m back to constant worry of if/when this will turn to cancer, how to even get better when you have no triggers, no way to tell what is causing it or if i’m even getting better without regular invasive scopes. Every time I really commit to self-care some new incurable condition happens to me. I feel unfixable. How can I work on my nervous system when I have no choice but to be hyper vigilant all day long (be super focused on what I drink/ when to drink, what to eat/when to eat, how much to eat, when to exercise, how to exercise w/o ever bending over or laying down for abs or chest exercises, how to sleep the way drs say when I can’t, panic every time I have to cough or clear my throat, panic if I am out eating in case there is an onion, garlic, vinegar, or spicy sauce in anything,).
